NTRCI Corporate Overview
The National Transportation Research Center, Inc., (NTRCI) was chartered as a nonprofit organization in June 1998 to support the automotive and truck industries and government with transportation research and technology. Recognizing that the economy of a region functions only as well as its transportation systems, several interested parties collaborated to create the nonprofit NTRCI. They are the University of Tennessee, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Battelle Memorial Institute, and the Development Corporation of Knox County. NTRCI's offices were located in the new National Transportation Research Center in Knoxville, Tennessee near Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In its work with the transportation industry and government, NTRCI developed expertise as a Heavy Vehicle Research Center, was designated a University Transportation Center in 2005 and created the Automotive Research Alliance in 2007.NTRCI serves as a link between the transportation industry and world class science and engineering staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Southeastern Universities to bring technological advances to the industry and governments at the federal, state and local levels. The research NTRCI coordinates and manages draws upon the expertise within its founding organizations, seven major universities in the southeast and the transportation industry. NTRCI offers private business and government clients a vast array of exceptional resources, including scientists, engineers, researchers, equipment and laboratory facilities. NTRCI also arranges partnerships with the transportation industry and the federal government agencies to prove co-funding for technology forward projects.
