Loren W. Crabtree serves as chancellor of the University of Tennessee's largest campus in Knoxville, a research-intensive university that serves more than 26,000 students. Dr. Crabtree joined UT as provost in 2001 and was named chancellor in 2003.
With rising demand and growth in enrollment, Dr. Crabtree has worked to reallocate resources to infuse more dollars into new faculty positions and enhance teaching and academic programs. Through the university's recent reaccreditation, he has led a team to infuse intercultural and international awareness into every aspect of the student experience.
Dr. Crabtree holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Minnesota and is a scholar of Chinese history. He served as a faculty member, dean of liberal arts, and provost at Colorado State University before coming to Knoxville.
