Manufacturing has been undergoing a series of transformations. No longer able to assume indefinite supplies of cheap raw materials, no longer able to make products designed to be used and discarded, manufacturing over the last twenty years has gone toward lean (stressing quality and relentless reduction of waste) and green ("reduce, reuse and recycle") manufacturing approaches.
Mission
To provide leading edge manufacturing research, manufacturing education, engineering services, and skilled graduates that will assist companies in Kentucky and beyond to be more successful and competitive in their national and global markets.
